5 Things To Consider Before Buying The Best TV for a Bright Room :

1. Contrast ratio

The higher the better. A contrast ratio of 3,000:1 is quite good. However, it will not make a huge difference if you are watching in a dark room.

2. Peak brightness

The higher the better. However, this is really important if you watch TV in a bright room. You may need to get your eyes checked regularly to make sure your retina does not get damaged by too much light exposure (ask your doctor).

3. Color gamut

The wider the better because it means more colors can be shown on screen and your brain can process them more easily, making viewing more comfortable for you (and it makes images look better).

4. Screen size

Bigger is better because it allows you to see details that would otherwise be lost on a small screen (see image below). This is especially important if you watch TV from an angle or from across the room.

5 . Screen resolution

More pixels are always better. This is because they allow you to see details that would otherwise be lost.

3 Advantages Of TV for a Bright Room

1. Dark scenes look better because they are not washed out by too much brightness.

2. You can see screen reflections and glare from lights in the room and from windows, so you can always adjust the lighting in the room to suit your viewing comfort (see photo below).

3 . You can see colors better because you are not distracted by excessive brightness.

The Bottom Line

If you have a bright room, and you want the TV to be comfortable to watch in that room, both Sony’s XBR-X930D and Samsung’s UN55MU8000 are good choices. The Sony has better contrast than the Samsung, but it doesn’t have as wide a viewing angle. The Samsung has a wider viewing angle, but it doesn’t have as good contrast. If you have a dark room, however, the Sony X930D might not be ideal because it is too bright. In that case, go with the Samsung UN55MU8000 because it is not as bright and has more accurate colors.
